About KWRDS

What is KWRDS?

KWRDS is a native Apple app for App Store Optimization (ASO) in the Apple App Store. It brings keyword tracking, keyword research, competitor analysis and App Store metadata planning together in one focused tool for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

What does the name KWRDS stand for?

KWRDS is short for "KeyWoRDS". The name reflects the product's focus: working with the keywords that decide how an app is found in the Apple App Store.

Who is KWRDS for?

KWRDS is built for indie developers, app publishers, ASO managers and agencies who want to research, track and plan App Store keywords and metadata in a structured way — for one app or many, across several countries and storefronts.

Platform & App Store

Which platform is KWRDS available for?

KWRDS is a native Apple app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It is downloaded from the Apple App Store.

Which app stores does KWRDS support?

KWRDS is built exclusively for the Apple App Store. It does not support Google Play or any other app store.

Keyword tracking

How are keyword rankings updated?

You update and review keyword rankings directly inside KWRDS. When you refresh, the app retrieves the current positions for your tracked keywords so you can analyse them and compare changes over time.

Are rankings updated automatically?

No. Rankings are not updated automatically in the background today — you refresh them in the app when you want current data. Automatic, server-side updates may be added in the future.

Can I manage several apps?

Yes. You can add and manage your own apps in KWRDS, and keyword tracking, competitors and metadata are organised per app. The number of apps you can manage may depend on your plan.

Can I track keywords in several countries?

Yes. You can track keywords across different countries and Apple App Store storefronts, and compare positions and changes between them.

Keyword research

What is a keyword network?

A keyword network is a structured map of related search terms. From a seed keyword such as "fitness", KWRDS builds a network of related keywords, realistic search terms, keyword combinations and extensions, so you can see long-tail opportunities and thematic connections instead of a flat list.

Where do the suggestions in a keyword network come from?

The suggestions are based on autocomplete queries — the kind of completions users see while typing in search. KWRDS turns them into a connected network of related terms and combinations.

Competitors

What is the difference between direct and similar competitors?

You can label competitors as direct or similar. Direct competitors target essentially the same use case and audience as your app; similar competitors overlap thematically or in some segments without being a head-to-head alternative. The labels help you focus the comparison and spot shared keywords and opportunities.

Metadata & cross-localization

What does cross-localization mean in the Apple App Store?

In a single storefront, the Apple App Store can index keywords from more than one localization. Cross-localization means using additional localizations so their keywords also count in that storefront — which expands the keywords you cover without repeating words. KWRDS shows which keywords are already covered by other relevant localizations and which are still unused.

Which metadata can I plan with KWRDS?

The metadata editor lets you plan the App Store app name (title), the subtitle and the keyword field. You can prepare, analyse and compare changes before entering them yourself in App Store Connect.

Are the Apple App Store character limits taken into account?

Yes. The editor respects and shows the Apple App Store character limits — 30 characters for the app name, 30 for the subtitle and 100 for the keyword field — so you can see how much space you have while you plan.

Are changes pushed to App Store Connect automatically?

No. KWRDS does not transfer or publish metadata to App Store Connect. It is a planning and analysis tool — you apply the prepared changes yourself in App Store Connect.

Plans & limits

Is there a limit on tracked keywords?

The number of actively tracked ranking keywords can be limited depending on the product scope or plan. This limit applies only to ranking tracking.

Are keywords in the metadata editor limited too?

No. Keywords you plan, analyse or manage in the metadata editor are not counted against the ranking-tracking limit. The two are separate: the limit applies to tracked ranking keywords, not to metadata keywords.

Is there a free version of KWRDS?

KWRDS follows a freemium model: a free tier with a small number of tracked ranking keywords and the full metadata editor, plus paid plans that raise the limits. Pricing details are shown on the pricing page.
